How do we price items? Right now I send them to a recycler
Most recyclers pay scrap pricing — basically a per-pound rate — which ignores what the item actually is. We don’t.
We price asset-by-asset based on the brand, model, and condition, because many “non-working” or no-hard-drive units still have strong resale or parts value (LCD, keyboard, motherboard, battery, chassis, etc.). That means you get paid based on the real market value, not the weight.

Typical recycler outcome: often $0 or roughly $0.85/lb (≈ $3 total)

Why that gap exists
Scrap = weight-based → treats a premium business laptop like generic mixed electronics
Our model = market-based → values the device as a recoverable asset, even without storage
No HDD is normal → many businesses pull drives for security; it doesn’t kill the value
P.S your recycler might be sending us the good items to resell for them....
Note: Example values vary by condition and configuration, but the point stays the same: we don’t pay “scrap” for something that still has real recoverable value.
